Ontario Agricultural College Dept. of Botany.

Hide Profile

In 1874, and for several years afterwards, botany was included in the general course of natural history. In 1898 a Department of Biology and Geology was established and continued until 1905, when it was divided into two departments, the Department of Entomology and Zoology, and the Department of Botany. From 1971-1984, it was called the Department of Botany and Genetics, and from 1984-2004, the Department of Botany. In 2004, the College of Biological Science was reorganized and the names of Departments (Botany, Zoology, Microbiology) were replaced with names reflecting levels of biological organization (molecular, cellular, organismic).
