Joseph Woodwell Company (Pittsburgh, Pa.)
Joseph Woodwell Company began in 1847 as a small hardware store. Over the years it expanded as it rebuilt and added other departments. It was one of the first hardware and industrial supply houses in Pittsburgh. When Joseph died, his sons continued in the company. The Woodwell and Herron families were prominent and wealthy members of Pittsburgh society.
