Art historian, writer, art critic, Los Angeles, Calif.; b. 1922; d. on October 30, 2001 in Los Angeles.

Schipper studied art history at the University of California, Los Angeles, and then began a career as an art writer, critic, and occasional independent curator. Her primary scholarly focus grew out of her dissertation research at UCLA. Most of her writing attention was devoted to Los Angeles artists and art world events. She was a regular contributor to Art Scene with a column in which she on a monthly basis discussed some aspect of local art activity.
