Craig, Francis, 1900-1966
Variant namesFrancis Craig was born in Dickson, Tenn., and graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1922. He was a pianist and bandleader who co-wrote (with Kermit Goell) and recorded the song "Near You," which was extremely popular and sold heavily on record and in sheet music form. He also worked as a disc jockey on the Nashville, Tenn., radio station WSM.
