Arthur Hilton

In 1943, Arthur "Pete" Hilton was assigned to ground crew at Sheppard Field in Wichita Falls, Texas. He then attended army technical school in Sioux Falls, South Dakota as radio operator/radio mechanic. In April of 1944, he graduated with the rank of corporal and was transferred to Barksdale Field in Shreveport, Louisiana where he was trained on B-26 Marauders as a radio gunner. He was assigned to the 17th Bombardment Group, 37th Bombardment Squadron and shipped overseas. On December 24, 1944 he was shot down on a mission over Germany and reported as missing in action, changed to killed in action a year later.
