Delbridge, Mary Elizabeth, 1919-2002
Born in Clinton, Ill., in 1919, only daughter of Henry William Delbridge, and Mary A. Delbridge. Mary E. Delbridge moved to Bloomington, Ill., with her family as a child. Later she enrolled in a stenography program at Brown's Business College, in Bloomington. Then she studied at the St. Joseph School of Nursing, graduating in 1942. She joined the U.S. Army Nurse Corps and served in the 117th Division semi-mobile evacuation hospital during World War II in Europe; she also worked in the 93rd Evacuation Hospital. After the war, she worked for a short time in California, but moved back to Bloomington, and worked as a nurse in various capacities until her retirement in 1981. She died in 2002.
