Smith, Gary Lane, 1939-
Gary Lane Smith served as Associate Curator of Bryophytes at The New York Botanical Garden from 1969-1976. From 1973 to 1976 he served as Administrator of the Cryptogamic Herbarium. His expertise was in the family Polytrichaceae. He received his Ph. D. in 1969 from the Columbia University/ NYBG graduate program where he studied under William Steere.
