Delta Sigma Rho-Tau Kappa Alpha National Honorary Forensic Society was founded in Denver, Colo., on August 18, 1963, through a merger of Delta Sigma Rho (founded in Chicago, Ill., April 13, 1906) and Tau Kappa Alpha (founded in Indianapolis, Ind., May 13, 1908). It promotes interest in and awards suitable recognition for excellence in forensics and original speaking and fosters respect for and an appreciation of freedom of speech as a vital element of democracy.
