Pittsfield Township, created in 1834, was one of the earliest townships in Washtenaw County. The "History of the Rural Schools in Washtenaw County" found in the collection covers only Pittsfield Township. The history of each district was written by students. The entire history was given to the Michigan Historical Collection by Julius W. Haab. Miscellaneous school documents include the Centennial Celebration of Stone School in 1953.
