Jason F. Brevoort, a physician, was born in New York c. 1810, and moved to Ohio with his wife, Sara. There, they had three sons: William H. (1838-1918), Edwin L. (1844-1882), and Albert. William and Edwin attended North Western Christian University (now Butler University) in Indianapolis, Indiana, graduating in 1862 and 1865, respectively. After graduation, William became a farmer in Vincennes, Indiana, and eventually amassed a large amount of land. He and his first wife, Harriet Mantle, married in 1869 had a son, John Mantle Brevoort. In 1876, following Harriet's death, he married Amelia Shattuck. Edwin returned to Walesboro after receiving his degree. He and his wife, Emma Jane Souders, had three daughters: Hatininel, Lulu, and May.
