Hide Profile

Pioneer ranchers in San Joaquin County. Mary Kimball Rhodes came with her stepson, William H. Rhodes, to California from Texas (1850), leaving behind her younger children and husband, Elisha Rhodes, who was incapacitated by a stroke. In California she joined a relative, Dr. Robert H. Rhodes and opened a San Francisco boarding house. Later she ran a store in Stockton (1851), then returned to Texas and brought her husband and children to California (1852).
