The American Association for Medical Systems and Informatics (AAMSI) was incorporated in 1981 through the merger of the Society for Computer Medicine (SCM), founded in 1972, and the Society for Advanced Medical Systems (SAMS), founded in 1975. It is the national professional medical society devoted to the development and implementation of medical computing and medical informatics in support of patient care, teaching, research, and health administration.
