Family of Concord, Mass. Traced to Thomas Minot(t), whose son George (1594-1671; born at Saffron Walden, Essex, England) was an early settler of Dorchester, Mass. Sons of George: John; James; Stephen; Samuel. Sons of John: James; John; Stephen; Samuel. James (eldest son of John) came to Concord about 1680, married Rebecca Wheeler. Lemuel Shattuck lists descendants of Thomas Minot in his 1835 A History of the Town of Concord (p. 379-380). Tilly Merrick (1755-1836), storekeeper of Concord, was connected to the Minots through his mother, Mary Minot Merrick, and his wife.
(Cont.) Sally (Sarah) Minot Merrick, daughter of Dr. Timothy Minot of Concord. Dr. Timothy's other children: Timothy Martin; Mary (m. Ammi White); Abigail; Stephen; Susanna (m. Col. John Parker); James. Tilly Merrick's daughter Mary was the second wife of Concord lawyer Nathan Brooks, who was involved in the administration of some of the Minot estates.
