Haldeman, Jacob M.
Variant namesJacob Miller Haldeman (1781-1856) was a well-known ironmaster, investor, and business owner of lumber mills and fish hatcheries in central Pennsylvania. Haldeman was president of, and investor in, Harrisburg Bridge Co and President and director of the Dauphin Deposit of Harrisburg and the Harrisburg Bank. He founded the town of New Cumberland, Pennsylvania. Jacob Miller Haldeman married Eliza Ewing Jacobs (1789-1884) and is buried in the Harrisburg Cemetery. His son, Richard Jacobs Haldeman (1831-1886), an anti-abolitionist, represented Pennsylvania in the U.S. Congress from 1869 to 1873.
