Wells, Henry, 1805-1878
Variant namesBorn in Vermont; settled with his family in Seneca County, N.Y. as a young boy. An expressman, he founded Wells & Co., which became part of the American Express Co. in 1850. With William G. Fargo, he also founded Wells, Fargo Express Co.
