Media technology/broadcast education was first taught at LCC in the late 1960s. Early references to media/broadcast education were concerned mainly with establishing the college radio station, now KLCC-FM and using television to broadcast course offerings. The first listing of the Media Arts and Technology Department was in the 1991-1992 college catalog. The Media Arts and Technology Department is currently in the Arts Division.
Media Arts includes two programs: Multimedia Design provides students with an introduction to various aspects of multimedia. The program teaches a combination of audio engineering, video production, computer technology, and studio arts and theory. The Graphic Design program teaches both design theory and design production for print and the web.
