Educator, community activist, historian, author of the first comprehensive history of Blacks in Cleveland. Davis drew from his brother Harry's unfinished manuscript on Blacks in Cleveland and published it in two volumes, Memorable Negroes in Cleveland's Past (1969) and Black Americans in Cleveland (1974).
