Dewey B. Cash was born in Wadley, Alabama on December 22, 1930. He had three sisters and two brothers. His father taught school for a while and then was a general contractor for the city of Wadley. Dr. Cash went to school in Wadley for 12 years, then went to a junior college in Wadley, Southern Union, for two years. He went to Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia for three quarters, then transferred to Jacksonville State in Jacksonville, Alabama. He served in the Army from 1951 until 1954, and then went to Auburn University where he completed his education.
