Byrd, Lois Tomlinson.
Lois Tomlinson Byrd received her A.B. in journalism from the University of North Carolina in 1935. After graduation, she worked at the Tribune in New Bern, N.C. In mid-1936, she became the first director of the Meredith College News Bureau.
