Nicholas Morton ( -1689) was the grandson of Rev. Nicholas Morton ( - ) of Southwark, England, who was the pastor of John Harvard (1607-1638), founder of Harvard College. Nicholas' uncle was Rev. Charles Morton (1626-1698), Puritan teacher, emigrant in 1686, and First Vice-President of Harvard. Nicholas came to America in 1685, entered Harvard on Advanced Standing the following year, and was accepted in the Charlestown, Mass., church in 1687.
