George Busby, 1798-1870, was appointed an Assistant Colonial Surgeon in 1826 and in 1828 took up a position in charge of the Convict Hospital at Bathurst. In 1842, this hospital was reduced in size and put under the control of a committee, becoming Bathurst District Hospital. Bathurst Conveyance Company commenced business in 1826 for the transportation of goods, passengers and mails to and from Sydney and Bathurst.
