Edmund Pendleton (1744-1827), the nephew of Edmund Pendleton (1721-1803), graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1763, became a captain then colonel in the Caroline County militia during the American Revolution, and later served on the Caroline County Commission in 1775. Pendleton was the last crown attorney before the revolution and first Commonwealth's attorney after the Declaration of Independence. He married Mildred Pollard (1747-1827) in 1764 and they lived at "White Plains," built for him by his uncle in 1765.
