Bentsen, Kenneth E.

Former Congressman Kenneth Bentsen represented the 25th District of Texas in the United States House of Representatives from 1995 to 2003, serving on the Budget and Financial Services Committees.

During his time in office, he helped craft legislation to modernize American banking and securities laws and helped prepare the nation's response to the Asian financial crisis. He was also actively involved in the drafting and passage of the Balanced Budget Act of 1997 and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, which improved federal oversight of U.S. capital markets. Following his time in office, Mr. Bentsen served as a Managing Director of Public Strategies, Inc., a public affairs consulting firm. He then became President of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association, a national trade association representing financial services companies and manufacturers. Born in Houston in 1959, Mr. Bentsen is the nephew of former Texas Senator and Treasury Secretary Lloyd Millard Bentsen, Jr.
