Frank Harmon was born October 3, 1929 in Dalton, Georgia. He was the son of the late John Frank Harmon, Sr., and Glennice LeFurgey Harmon. He was a Senior Account Executive for the Vernon Company, a promotional products distributor in Newton, Iowa. He joined the company in 1964, serving as district manager for Northeast Georgia and South Carolina for 33 years. Prior to joining the Vernon Company, he spent 15 years as a radio broadcaster at stations in Hartwell and Athens, Georgia, Barnwell and Seneca, South Carolina, and Rockwood, Tennessee. In 1953, he won the prestigious Georgia Foster Peabody Award, administered by the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia. He received the Peabody for 'Church of Your Choice,' a program that he created for WBAW in Barnwell. A poet, he published As a Man Is in 1997. Mr. Harmon passed away on October 7, 2004.
