The AMERICAN GUIDE SERIES was planned as a travel guide to the United States, which would include information on commerce, conservation, geography, history, the humanities, and the military. Although the GUIDE was not published in the five regional volumes originally planned, several states and localities produced publications from the information gathered.
KENTUCKY: A GUIDE TO THE BLUEGRASS STATE was published in 1939. Other Kentucky works in the series included THE OLD CAPITOL AND FRANKFORT GUIDE (1939), HENDERSON: A GUIDE TO AUDUBON'S HOME TOWN IN KENTUCKY (1941), IN THE LAND OF BREATHITT (1941), FAIRS AND FAIR MAKERS OF KENTUCKY (1942), and A MILITARY HISTORY OF KENTUCKY (1939).
