Longley, Sylvanus S., 1834-1922
Prominent farmer and stockman, now retired, ex-member of the Kansas legislature and influential citizen of Greenleaf, Washington County, Kan.; was born on his father's farm near Foxcroft, Me., on 15 Sept. 1834; Longley was onboard the whaling ship Canton on its last voyage and returned to Boston three years after the shipwreck.
