Dunn, Bernard, 1923-1987

Bernard Dunn was born on 30 Apr. 1923. Originally from Louann in Ouachita County, Ark., he enlisted as a volunteer in the naval reserve in 1942. He was called to active duty as an aviation cadet and commissioned as an ensign in 1943. He originally served in the naval training center at Corpus Christi, Tex., and was later transferred to serve in the Fighting Squadron 29 out of Atlantic City, N.J. In June 1944 he was transferred to the Fighting Squadron 80 out of San Diego, Calif. He saw combat duty in the Pacific from Sept. to Dec. 1944. He was released from active duty in Sept. 1945 and returned to El Dorado, Ark., where he worked as an operator for the Lion Oil Company Chemical Division in 1947. He died in Santa Rosa County, Fla., on 30 July 1987.
