Richard J. Marshall was a United States (U.S.) Army officer. During WWII, he served at Headquarters (HQ), U.S. Army Forces, Far East (USAFFE), General Staff Corps with the rank of lieutenant colonel (1941). He then was the Chief of Staff (CoS) of the General HQ, U.S. Army Forces, Far East, as a major general (1943-1945). After the war, he became superintendent of the VMI from 1947 to 1948.
