The Bond Astronomical Club was founded in 1924 by Dr. Harlow Shapley to bring together professional and amateur astronomers in the Cambridge community, as well as the interested public. The Club held monthly meetings at the Harvard College Observatory, and sponsored a series of annual "open nights" at the Observatory with lectures and telescopic observation for the public.
