Kahn, Irving B. (Irving Berlin), 1917-1994.
Founded TelePrompTer Corp. in 1950 with Hubert J. Schlafly to oversee the development and production of a monitor that displays a performer's script, eliminating the need for cue cards. Invented by Fred Barton, the speech prompting device aided public speakers, live events and closed-circuit television and was called the TelePrompTer. In 1959 TelePrompTer Corp. expanded into cable television and became one of the largest cable companies in the U.S. Kahn lost control of TelePrompTer in 1972 and founded Broadband Communications, Inc.
