Friedrich von Holdt was a German-speaking immigrant who settled in the Denver, Colorado, area. Most of the photographs are of Frein, near Murzsteg, in Styria. All of his writings are in German, and at least one of his poems was printed in the Colorado Herald, a German-language Denver newspaper.
