Lysle Nosworthy was Vice Consul at the British Consulate-General in New York in 1911. He wrote to Apsley Cherry-Garrard while the later was in the Antarctic with the British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-1913 (leader Robert Falcon Scott) and later to Cherry-Garrard's mother Evelyn regarding the loss of Scott, Wilson, Bowers, Evans and Oates during the return from the South Pole in 1912.
