Variant namesOn 22 December 1944, the Airborne Pathfinder Detachment was alerted for a two-stick (20 man) mission to establish a drop zone near the German-surrounded town of Bastogne in order to resupply the 101st Airborne Division. The Airborne Pathfinder's drop was successfully completed on 23 December 1944, and allowed 819 planes to drop supplies and 44 gliders to land near Bastogne between 23 and 27 December 1944.
