Rhode Island (Colony).

Hide Profile

In 1822 the Rhode Island General Assembly directed that copies of Rhode Island Colony records be made and appointed a committee consisting of Henry Bull and Christopher E. Robbins to decide on the way to complete the project. Bull and Robbins contracted with Charles Gyles in 1824 to make copies of two books of records in the office of the General Treasurer. These two books are probably Parts 1 and 2 of Vol. 1 of the Rhode Island Colony Records. The records in the Appendix were copied in 1825 from records in the Providence Town clerk’s office. The Andros Court records were copied in 1835 from the book of records in the Clerk’s Office of the Supreme Judicial Court of the County of Newport.
