Born 1915, Peter H. Behr was a member of the Mill Valley City Council from 1956-1960 and the Board of Supervisors of Marin County from 1962-1968. In 1970 he was elected to the California State Senate. During his eight years in the Senate he authored a wide variety of legislation in the areas of environmental protection, legislative reform, health, welfare, and education issues, insurance, property tax reform, and others. He chaired the Insurance and Financial Institutions Committee of the senate, 1975-1978. He was named California Conservation Legislator of the Year in 1972. He died Mar. 10, 1997.
