Janet Stevens was born January 17, 1953 in Dallas, TX. She attained her Batchelor of Fine Arts at the University of Colorado in 1975. She has been an author and illustrator of children's books since 1979, and has written and illustrated more than 40 titles. Stevens has also done advertising, textile design, and architectural sketching. She has won both the Caldecot Honor and the Parent's Choice Award in 1987, both for The Three Billy Goats Gruff.
