Martin, Frederick L. (Frederick LeRoy), 1882-1954
Frederick LeRoy Martin (b. Nov. 26, 1882, Liberty, Ind.-d. Feb. 23, 1954), U.S. Air Force officer, was commissioned in the Coast Artillery Corps after graduating from university in 1908. He transferred to the Air Service in 1920 after serving as director of military aeronautics. He was commanding general of the 3rd Wing, GHQ Air Force (1937-1940), of Hawaiian Air Force, of the Second Air Force, and of the Army Air Force Central Technical Training Command. He retired in 1944.
