This is probably Guillaume Guizot (1833-1892), a French literary scholar and a professor at the Collège de France. He wrote Ménandre: étude historique et littéraire sur la comédie et la société grecques (1855) and translated some of Macauley's essays into French. His father was the historian and statesman François Guizot (1787-1874).
