Charles Edward Crane began his career as a correspondent and feature writer. After 15 years with AP he returned to Vermont and bought and edited the "Middlebury Register." In 1920 he became associated with Vermont Printing Company in Brattleboro. For none years he was an editor and columnist for the "Brattleboro Reformer," and edited the periodical "With Interest" for the Vermont Peoples National Bank of Brattleboro. Carne became Nations Life's first director of publicity in 1832. He retired in January 1955. He died in 1960 at the age of 76.
