Llano del Rio Company of Nevada.
Llano del Rio Cooperative Colony was established in the Antelope Valley north of Los Angeles, Calif., as a socialist colony in 1914. It was re-incorporated in Nevada as the Llano del Rio Company of Nevada in 1916. In 1917 approximately 150 colonists moved to Vernon Parish, La., to establish the colony of New Llano on the site of a played-out lumber mill town. It was liquidated in 1939, but lawsuits from the colonists continued into the 1970s.
