Sarah Edna Hesketh Wrentmore Bolingbroke, born on February 18, 1899, was born in Rolla, North Dakota. She attended the University of North Dakota from 1918 to 1922. She majored in accounting, while also pursuing a diploma in expression from Wesley College. While at UND, she served as President of the YWCA and as Junior Class Treasurer, and was a four year participant in the Dakota Playmakers. The summer after graduation, she earned her Teacher's Certificate. She then taught high school for seven years in North and South Dakota, as well as Oregon. In 1929, she attended the Research Bureau of Retail Training at the University of Pittsburgh, received a Master's degree and worked as personnel director in Baltimore, Maryland and Akron, Ohio. After marrying Laurence Wrentmore, an auto parts salesman, she traveled with him throughout the northwestern United States, before they moved to Portland, Oregon. She was an active member of the Methodist Church and was President of the Women's Society of Christian Service of Methodist Churches for four years. Sarah continued to reside in Portland after her husband's death in 1965. In 1986, she married George Bolingbroke, who died May 3, 1995. Sarah died December 1, 1998.
