Lewis Hole served as First Lieutenant to Captain Robert Morrsom in command of the H.M.S. Revenge during the Trafalgar campaign; after the battle he was promoted to Commander and served on the H.M.S. Hindostan off Portugal in 1807-1808, supplying Wellington's army during the Peninsular War. Hole was made Post Captain in 1813 and eventually promoted to Admiral; at his death in 1870 he was the last remaining officer on active service who had been at Nelson's famous victory.
