Climax Coal Company.
The company was incorporated by James J. Hill interests in 1880 to mine coal from lands in Boone, Greene, and Dallas counties. Operations were discontinued in 1887 when its coal resources were depleted, and the company's charter was allowed to lapse in 1900.
