E. A. Walters joined the Ford Motor Company in 1912 after Ford purchased Keim Mills of Buffalo, New York. A press operator, Walters worked in the Press Department at the Highland Park Plant. He later became Superintendent of the Pressed Steel Division of the Ford Rouge River Plant. He 1941, he was sent to San Diego, California in preparation for the manufacture of B-24 bombers at Willow Run.
