Existing agreements between the parties expired on August 31, 1952 but they were unable to reach an agreement. The five issues which could not be reconciled were: a wage increase of 45 cents per hour, incorporation of cost of living bonus, union shop, check-off of union dues, and elimination of the emergency clause.
