The Oregon Student Branch of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers was established at Oregon State College in the mid-1930s for majors in agricultural engineering. The national organization is now known as the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers. Martin Hellickson, Associate Professor of Bioengineering served as faculty advisor for the student branch after he joined the faculty of Oregon State University in 1975. Hellickson retired in 2006.
