The Ulit Family have lived in Austin, Texas since William Ulit, Jr. moved to Austin in 1891. William Ulit, Jr. was born January 12, 1865 in New Braunfels, Texas, the son of Wilhelm and Philippine (Scheel) Ulit, who emigrated from Germany in 1855. William Ulit, Jr. married Selma Hofmann in 1888 and from this union four children were born: Antonio Bertha (1889-1969), Otillie Marie (1891-?), Harry Henry (1894- 1969), and Oscar Alfred (1896-1969). Antonio Ulit married Reinhold Pfeifer in 1909 and their marriage lasted 42 years until his death in 1951; they did not have any children. Antonio (Ulit) Pfeifer did the accounting for Ed Pfeifer and Son (later called the Pfeifer Music Company), a local Austin business that made and sold pianos and organs, from the years 1919 through 1956. Oscar Ulit married Idalee LeMaster in 1919 and had two children: Josephine "Jo" Estelle (1920-) and Dorothy Leigh (1923-1971). Jo Ulit was active in social and cultural events in high school and college, was a volunteer at Bergstrom Air Force Base (originally called Del Valle Air Force Base, Bergstrom Field) during World War II, and went to American Airlines stewardess training school in New York. Alfred Hofmann was not a Ulit, but rather the brother of Selma Hofmann and maternal uncle to the children of William and Selma Ulit.
