First National Bank of Denver
Variant namesClark, Gruber and Co. was originally founded by Austin M. Clark, Milton E. Clark and Emanuel H. Gruber in Leavenworth, Kan. (1858). The company moved to Denver (ca.1859). It was the first official mint in Colo. and minted coins (1860-1861), and gold ingots (1862) before being bought by the United States Mint in 1862. The Denver Mint opened in the company's former office at 16th and Market Streets, Denver, Colo. in 1863. Name later changed to Clark and Company. Company then integrated into the First National Bank of Denver, when that institution opened on April 17, 1865.
