University of Michigan. Athlete Department.

Since 1860 organized athletic activity has existed at the University of Michigan. The University's Athletic Department manages the University's participation in intercollegiate athletic competition. The department is governed by the Board in Control of Intercollegiate Athletics and headed by the Athletic Director. Since 1973 the department has managed women's intercollegiate athletics. The Individual Files were compiled by Athletic Department Media Relations Office and its predecessors.
