Thomas Decker Cochrun was born 23 August 1946 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He began his career as a sports stringer for the Indianapolis Times while in high school. During his college days at Ball State University he was a newscaster and general assignment reporter for a Muncie radio station. After graduating from Ball State Cochrun traveled and freelanced before returning to Indianapolis. He has held postions at WIBC/WNAP Radio, the CBS affiliate WISH Television and the NBC affiliate WTHR Television where he became a senior news anchor, investigative reporter, and producer. While at WTHR Cochrun won numerous local and national awards for his documentaries. In 1994 he founded Nineteenth Star, a film company that provided creative media services for institutional clients. Cochrun served as the president and CEO of the company and later its creative officer. Cochrun returned to WISH Television in 2003 as the news director. He is active in several organizations in the Indianapolis cultural community.
